FALL 2013 VIDEO PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP

Printer Friendly Version

GOAL: To create awareness and tolerance of agriculture among the general consuming public through social media and other electronic outlets.

TACTIC: Provide opportunities for college students studying video applications, editing, shooting, etc to engage the non-agricultural public. Resulting videos could be used at conferences, on websites, to populate YouTube channels and blogs, at sports arenas/stadiums to promote understanding of agricultural issues and farmers as members of the community.

TIMEFRAME: Applications (please include resume and sample of work) are due on June 17, with interviews being held in Bloomington, IL on June 24-28. Selected interns will be notified by July 1 and will begin their social media programs on January 1. Students will be encouraged to maintain office hours in Bloomington (flexible around class schedules).

REQUIREMENTS: Students will be provided with specific projects that could vary by semester or by month as new issues/needs arise. Success will be defined by completion of the projects within the given timeframe and by accomplishing the desired outcome for each individual video/project. A final report detailing the student’s activities, growth and insight over the course of the semester will conclude the internship.

For examples of the videos that previous interns have completed, visit the IL Corn YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/ilcorn.

COMPENSATION: Students will be paid $12 per hour. Weekly hours can fluctuate depending on projects assigned. Alternatively, if weekly office hours are difficult, students can be paid per video completed.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: This opportunity should be considered an important professional development opportunity. Students can expect to exit the internship with a meaningful portfolio of work to present to future employers.

FOR MORE INFORMATION: Please contact Lindsay Mitchell at [email protected] or 309-827-0912 for any additional information on this internship experience.
