Information on Nutritional Values of DDGS

Distiller's dried grains with solubles are the dried residue remaining after the starch fraction of corn is fermented with selected yeasts and enzymes to produce ethanol and carbon dioxide. After complete fermentation, the alcohol is removed by distillation and the remaining fermentation residues are dried.

For livestock producers or international buyers looking to determine the exact nutritional value of DDGS from any given ethanol plant, please visit the Illinois Institute of Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University’s website,  This website details moisture content, crude fat, crude fiber, and crude protein as well as multiple other amino acids and minerals and shows their percentages overtime to aid in the proper diet formulation.

As a livestock nutritionist, you may also be interested in the following reports (coming soon!) and publications, some funded by Illinois Corn Marketing Board, that present research on including DDGS into swine and ruminant diets.
