Fall Video Internship
Goal: To create awareness and tolerance of agriculture among the general consuming public through social media and other electronic outlets.
Tactic: Provide opportunities for college students studying video applications, editing, shooting, etc to engage the non-agricultural public. Resulting videos could be used at conferences, on websites, to populate youtube channels and blogs, at sports arenas/stadiums to promote understanding of agricultural issues and farmers as members of the community.
Timeframe: Applications (please include resume and sample of work) are due on July 16, with interviews being held in Bloomington, IL between July 23 and August 3. Selected interns will be notified by August 10 and will begin their social media programs on August 20. Students will be required to maintain office hours in Bloomington (flexible around class schedules).
Requirements: Students will be provided with specific projects that could vary by semester or by month as new issues/needs arise. Success will be defined by completion of the projects within the given timeframe and by accomplishing the desired outcome for each individual video/project. A final report detailing the student’s activities, growth and insight over the course of the semester will conclude the internship.
Compensation: Students will be paid $10 per hour. Weekly hours can fluctuate depending on projects assigned.
Professional Development: This opportunity should be considered an important professional development opportunity. Students can expect to exit the internship with a meaningful portfolio of work to present to future employers.
