Richard Gates, District XIII

Richard is a fourth generation farmer, who started his career out of high school in 1962 with his father.  He currently farms 2400 acres of wheat, corn and soybeans with his son Brad. 

 

Richard has served on the Illinois Corn Growers Association board for 5 years and is also a White County Farm Bureau Director (9 years).  He has served as President of the Illinois Farmer Elected Committeemen Association and been a Director for 30 years. 

 

Richard enjoys being active in the First United Methodist Church in Carmi and working with the County 4-H. 

 

Richard and his wife Janice still live on the original family farm in White county.  They have three married children and nine grandchildren.
