Still working on a family farm in Gallatin County called ‘Pat Scates & Sons,’ Jeff works every day with his

 dad, four uncles, and six cousins.  The Scates family raises corn, soybeans, wheat, and grain sorghum in Southern Illinois near

 the Kentucky and Indiana border.  Jeff’s wife Christina works in town as a teacher for a pre-k program.  They have two children: an eight year old daughter who sometimes bores of farming talk, and a two year old son whose first word was ‘tractor.’  The family is excited to eventually bring this new generation of farmers into the fold.   Jeff has been on the Illinois Corn Growers Association Board since 2001.
