    BLOOMINGTON, Ill.—Jim Raben, a farmer from Ridgway, Illinois, was recently elected by his peers to serve as Chairman of the Illinois Corn Marketing Board for the 2015-16 term. Raben, a Gallatin County farmer, has served on the Board for five years.   • FREE WATER QUALITY TESTING AT FARM PROGRESS SHOW

    Bloomington, Ill.— Illinois Corn Marketing Board is offering free water quality testing at their Farm Progress Show exhibit September 1-3 in Decatur, Illinois. All farmers are encouraged to bring one or more water samples from their farm for the confidential testing. The results are available immediately and will remain confidential with no record being kept of the results. “Nutrient management and water quality are among our top priority areas for research,” explained Lou Lamoreux, ICMB chairman. ###

The Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Philip Nelson announced the results of the farmer elections.     Bloomington, Ill.— The Illinois Department of Agriculture today released names of the candidates slated for the July 7, 2015 Illinois Corn Marketing Board director election. All eligible corn farmers and checkoff contributors are encouraged to vote. Anyone who grows or sells corn is eligible to vote in this election.     Bloomington, Ill.—Farmers who would like to run for a three-year term on the Illinois Corn Marketing Board can now start circulating nominating petitions. Petitions are available at county Extension offices and the Illinois Department of Agriculture. In order to have their name placed on the ballot, candidates must submit a completed petition to the Director of Agriculture by the filing deadline of May 15, 2015.
