ICMB has been active with the Illinois Pork Producers Association, supporting their efforts to feed the hungry and generate positive conversations about livestock farming. Pork Power is in its third year and has donated 200,000 pounds of pork, which has provided more than 800,000 meals to families in Illinois.
We have also worked with IPPA on their DaBurger promotion which combines public relations and consumer education with pork promotion and grocery store education efforts in Chicago. Read more about that program here!
Illinois Corn continues to work with the Illinois Beef Association on an informational piece, informing beef producers of their competitive advantage over western producers and encouraging them to consider investing in their business as the markets may dictate.
Finally, as the Illinois Corn Marketing Board and Illinois Corn Growers Association supports the development of ethanol within our state, we want to ensure that livestock feed from dried distillers grains remains a viable option for livestock farmers. ICMB has funded a variety of DDGS nutritional research; please check it out on our DDGS page. We also work with Western Illinois University’s Institute of Rural Affairs on a value-added website that details various ethanol plant’s DDGS, their nutritional quality, and consistency. We support this effort to provide livestock farmers with the best information from which to determine their rations.
ICMB has a vested interest in supporting the Illinois livestock industry. If you know of a way that we can help, please let us know!
