ICGA RECRUITS BOARD MEMBERS FOR AT-LARGE POSITIONS

May 27, 2011  |  Today's News

The Illinois Corn Growers Association (ICGA) is seeking corn growers to run for two open at-large seats on the ICGA Board of Directors.

A seat on the ICGA Board offers growers the opportunity to learn more about the Illinois agricultural industry, develop media relations and PR skills, meet other Illinois leaders and network with elected officials and staff, and create solutions to the issues facing corn production within our state.

Most importantly, ICGA Directors indicate that they walk away from their tenure on the board with a strong sense of personal mission and the skills to accomplish that mission.

ICGA bylaws require that a person indicate his/her intent to run for open positions in one of two ways:

1) appear at a scheduled board meeting on or before the August meeting (dates for this year are June 8- 9 and Aug. 25-26 at the ICGA Office in Bloomington) or,

2) file a petition with 25 signatures of current members in their district (membership list and petitions available upon request at 309-557-3257).  Petitions are due on September 1, 2011 and can be downloaded here.

At-large directors are elected at the annual meeting which will be held this year on November 22, 2011 at the Doubletree Hotel in Bloomington.  Each candidate is allowed time to make a short presentation to the members present indicating their reasons for seeking election.

The board does not pay a per diem, but offers a unique experience to make a difference in your own operation, that of friends and neighbors, and to help build a strong industry for future generations.  Travel, lodging and meeting expenses are reimbursed.

Any questions can be directed to the ICGA office at 309-557-3257.
