A new website has been developed that allows motorists to post prices on E85 in Illinois and other Midwestern states. The site, supported by Illinois corn checkoff dollars, has two goals. The first is to promote awareness of E85 as a flex fuel. The second is to promote transparency in the E85 pricing system as motorists will know where and when prices are lower at another location. Since ethanol has averaged close to 80 cents a gallon cheaper than gasoline at the wholesale level, we know E85 should be priced attractively.

Visit www.LowerPricedGas.com and sign up to report prices. To make the site successful, we need lots of users.

The website is being advertised in the Chicago area but downstate users are equally as important.

If E85 isn’t priced “right” at your station, speak with the station management. Show them prices at other locations in Illinois and ask why you’re not seeing an attractive price locally.
