You’ve told us that lock and dam modernization on the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers is one of your top priorities. So, we’ve used checkoff funds to launch several educational video opportunities that will help our Illinois legislators, legislators all around Washington, DC, and other governmental agency officials to understand just what the river system means to you.

The videos are hosted and promoted by Waterways Council Inc, a national public policy organization that advocates for a properly funded and well-maintained system of inland waterways and ports and includes lock and dam modernization among its priorities.

They have undergone a video production process, including visiting Illinois farmers Paul and Donna Jeschke, to create a series of educational videos.  The 30-second video is currently airing in the beltway, while the longer videos are featured via social media.

You can rest assured that we will continue trying to help policy makers and legislators understand the need for lock and dam modernization, while our sister organization, the Illinois Corn Growers Association, actually reaches out to the Illinois delegation on this matter, asking for their support.
