Nov 23, 2010  |  ICGA

Bloomington, IL - Farm broadcaster Alan Jarand of RFD Radio was the recipient of the Illinois Corn Growers Association’s 2010 Media Award today during their annual meeting at the DoubleTree Hotel.

Jarand is responsible for the management and administration of the RFD Radio Network.  He is also responsible for maintaining affiliate relations with over 70 radio stations throughout Illinois.  He continually provides outstanding service to Illinois corn farmers by broadcasting markets and newsworthy stories over the airwaves.

“We are grateful to Alan Jarand and the countless other farm broadcasters across our state that do a wonderful job spreading our agricultural message to the masses.  In a time when the gap between farmers and consumers seems more like the Grand Canyon than the short stretch of road that it really is, we appreciate the efforts of farm journalists and especially Alan for continually delivering quality messaging about farmers and their efforts to provide a sustainable and cheap product for consumers,” said Tim Lenz, President, ICGA.

Jarand is a native of Moultrie County and a graduate of Eastern Illinois University.  He is a member of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters, Radio-TV News Directors Association, and Illinois News Broadcasters Association.

He and his wife, Marjorie, live in Normal, IL
