CommonGround launched a new video highlighting how farmers care for the environment and why they take more and more steps to increase sustainability on their farms. The short piece and accompanying blog posts, which feature Nebraska CommonGround volunteer Diane Karr, help consumers looking for the story behind their food. IL Corn recently joined the Common Ground effort. Click below to listen to an audio update about this topic.

Showcasing the many practices farmers use to improve air, water, and soil on their own unique farms, the video addresses the environmental issues of interest to consumers. It highlights their deep passion for agriculture, as well as the wide array of technologies and practices America’s farmers choose from when tailoring the precise plan that works for their farm. Karr opens her farm and her front door to allow consumers in to see the farm and family she loves while she shares the values and future aspirations that guide everything she does.

Along with the video, Karr shared more detailed information on some of the practices and technologies she, and many farmers like her, choose in their constant efforts to evolve and improve.

CommonGround is a grassroots movement to foster conversation among women – on farms and in cities – about where our food comes from. The National Corn Growers Association, United Soybean Board and their state affiliates developed CommonGround to give farm women the opportunity to engage with consumers using a wide range of activities. Now active in 21 states with more than 200 volunteers, the grassroots movement continues to grow. Through more than one billion conversations over the past seven years, CommonGround brings women together to foster understanding and create trust in modern farming and ranching.
