CROP REPORT REFOCUSES SPOTLIGHT ON THE NECESSITY OF CROP INSURANCE

Today’s U.S. Department of Agriculture World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report showed a shrinking U.S. corn crop as the pervasive and widespread drought, accompanied by extreme heat, continues to rob yield potential from corn fields. Illinois Corn Growers Association Executive Director Rodney Weinzierl shares in this audio update the importance of a continued crop insurance program and explains how Illinois’ corn supplies will be “stretched tight” with reduced yields. Weinzierl says that it will be important that Illinois farmers talk with their Congressman during the August recess to put the pressure on to achieve new Farm Bill legislation.
