It is official. Missouri retailers can now offer E15 (15 percent ethanol, 85 percent gasoline) at the pump, providing consumers a cleaner-burning, cost-saving option over conventional gasoline. E-15 is available in a few locations in Illinois, but faces tough regulatory and arbitrary market based hurdles to its entry in the market. We know that adding another choice at the pump is good for consumers AND good for corn farmers.

The final rule approving the sale of E15 in Missouri was published in the May 15 Missouri Register released by Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander. This was the last step needed to complete the thorough regulatory process. 

One of the most rigorously tested fuels in history, the Environmental Protection Agency approved the use of E15 in vehicles model year 2001 and newer as well as all flexible fuel vehicles in June 2012. The rule was promulgated by the Missouri Department of Agriculture to bring Missouri in line with the other 12 states where E15 is available: Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Arkansas, Minnesota and Ohio.
