We know you care about how your food is raised. We do, too, because we feed our families the same food we grow for you and your family.

You probably have questions about Illinois Farm Families – about why, when and how we use chemicals, antibiotics and hormones, and how we care for our animals and the environment. We’d like to have a conversation to answer your questions and give you the facts about your food from the people who grow it.

Now is your chance.  You can apply to be a “Field Mom” and have the opportunity to tour farms and talk to farmers yourself!

The Illinois Farm Families are inviting moms from the Chicago area to visit a variety of Illinois family farms for a behind-the-scenes look at how their food is grown. As a Field Mom, you’ll meet farmers who grow crops and vegetables and raise livestock. In fact, the food your family eats may come from one of our family farms.

As Field Mom you will:

  • Tour four Illinois family farms in 2014. To show you all seasons of farming, tours will be on Saturdays in March, May, September and October. Bus transportation leaves from the Chicago area at 8 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. (Dates TBA)
  • The Field Moms will share, here on the Watch Us Grow website, the things that they see, hear and learn on our farms. Watch this video for a farm tour preview.

Field Mom applications are due by Dec. 15, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. We'll announce the 2014 class in January 2014.
