And once you’ve finished making your comments, get up bright and early and call your Congressman tomorrow morning.  The House will vote on the Farm Bill report from the conference committee by 9 am, January 29.

This Farm Bill does not have everything we wanted, but it does accomplish a few very important things.  Crop insurance provisions are preserved and some programs even amplified.  Title I programs will not be linked to planted acres, keeping farm policy from influencing planting decisions.  Market Access Programs and Foreign Market Development programs are preserved which will allow your partners to continue working on your behalf in other countries to open markets.

And this bill achieves net savings of $24 billion over ten years, primarily from the elimination of guaranteed direct payments, making agriculture the only sector that has contributed to deficit reduction in the 113th Congress.  

The House will vote on this bill early on the morning of Wed, January 29 so we really need to you call as soon as possible and ask your Congressman to vote “yes” to pass the Agricultural Act of 2014.  The Senate vote will occur later – we will keep you updated on that schedule.
