PRESIDENT TRUMP SAYS YEAR-ROUND E15 COMING SOON
Illinois Corn Growers Association believes that the marketplace is where farmers prefer to derive their income, and as such, have encouraged President Trump today through a membership call to action to implement a year-round RVP waiver for E15 and all other midlevel ethanol blends above E10. The President heard the message and made mention of his E15 promise at a campaign stop in Iowa today.
The administration is close to granting a waiver that would allow year-round sales of E-15 blend ethanol, President Donald Trump says at Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta, Iowa.
“I’m very close, I have to tell you, to pulling off something that you’ve been looking forward to for many years. And that’s the 12-month E15 waiver. I’m getting very close to that. It’s a very complex process. And I stuck with ethanol, and most other candidates, they weren’t there. To put it mildly,” said President Trump in his remarks.
“We’re taking care of your ethanol,” he reiterated.
President Trump promised the so-called RVP waiver earlier this year. The waiver would allow sales of midlevel ethanol blends greater than E10 year-round. Currently, except in a few areas, these sales are only available 8 months a year. During the busiest driving season, E15 is only legal for use in flex-fuel vehicles.
Granting the RVP waiver is a regulatory change that has zero impact on the federal budget and will help improve farm profitability through increased corn demand.
IL Corn asks President Trump to quickly address these additional actions which come at no cost to taxpayers but will improve corn demand:
- Complete renegotiation of NAFTA
- Provide regulatory relief for ethanol by:
- Updating the 2009 lifecycle analysis of corn-based ethanol incorporating improvements in corn production, and;
- Reallocating RINs obligations waived by USEPA.
