TEE UP AND SUPPORT AG IN THE CLASSROOM

Consumer research has taught us several things. One of the most remarkable lessons from that research is that just one experience on a farm or with a farmer can be enough to influence a person throughout their entire lifetime to trust and believe in farmers. That’s one reason why the Illinois Corn Marketing Board believes that the Ag In The Classroom program is a valuable investment for Illinois corn checkoff dollars. You can support AITC, too, by signing up for the IAA Foundation Golf Outing.

The Illinois Corn Marketing Board is a sponsor of this event and has also supported the IAA Foundation and Ag In The Classroom with over $25,000 this year.

Golfers are invited to join the largest golf outing benefiting agriculture in the state of Illinois. The 16th annual Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom Golf Outing, a fundraising event hosted by the IAA Foundation, will be held June 14, 2012, at the Elks Country Club and the Wolf Creek Golf Club in Pontiac, Ill.

"Join us for a great day of golf for a great cause," said event chairman Steve Wentworth. "The money raised during the outing will help bring Agriculture in the Classroom to more schools across Illinois."

Driving ranges open at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. for this scramble-style tournament. In addition to ultimate bragging rights, golfers will compete for a number of great prizes, including a golf getaway package and cash awards. A social hour, auction and steak dinner, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, will cap off the evening.

The registration fee is $130 per golfer, or $520 per foursome. Those interested in attending the banquet only can register for $50. Online registration is now available on the IAA Foundation website at www.iaafoundation.org or by calling the Foundation office at 309-557-2230.

Discounted rates also are available for families and teachers. Youth ages 18 and under playing with a parent or grandparent are eligible for a family rate of $200 per pair. Additionally, teachers or agriculture literacy coordinators play free with three additional registrations.

"We look forward to seeing old friends and new teams out on the course this year for a day of fun and friendly competition," said Susan Moore, director, IAA Foundation. "We are optimistic that our farmers will have completed spring work and can celebrate successful planting with some well deserved time on the course. We encourage our farmer teams to sign up now, and if the field keeps them away, they can contact us for accommodations."

Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom is the top funding priority of the IAA Foundation, Illinois Farm Bureau's charitable foundation, which funds educational, research, and charitable activities that benefit Illinois farm families and agriculture.
