IL Corn is joining other organizations in bringing attention to the value of our export markets this month, as May is designated World Trade Month. In Illinois, 38% of our corn leaves the state bound for markets elsewhere, including our world trading partners. We know that a large amount of corn equivalent also leaves Illinois bound for export markets, as ethanol, DDGS, or finished meat products. Livestock is the #1 user of corn nationwide, chewing up 46% of the nation’s corn crop in 2016 (including the bushel value of DDGS as feed.) A growing export market for meat products means growing demand for your IL Corn, and that’s where we’re focusing in this audio update about beef exports to Thailand.
