The 2011 Illinois Pork Expo was held in Peoria today and yesterday. Illinois Corn Marketing Board was proud to sponsor the event, understanding that the partnership with livestock producers is incredibly important to our markets.

ICMB highlighted at an exhibitor booth on the Pork Patio the investment made in pork exports. ICMB invested over $200,000 corn checkoff dollars with the U.S. Meat Export Federation. This helps promote U.S. pork exports. One of every four hogs raised in the U.S. is exported.

Also, the Illinois Farmer Image coalition work was highlighted in one of the educational seminars. This effort, funded by the Illinois Beef Association, ICMB, IL Farm Bureau, IL Pork Producers Association, and Illinois Soybean Association, works to determine the image of farmers and farming in Illinois. Judy Rupnow, of Morgan and Myers, presented the research information and plans for educating Illinois farmers to be more effective communicators about what they do.
