An announcement from John Deere today will soon have E-85, a fuel made from Midwestern grown corn, fueling the landscaping and lawn care needs for the United States’ “front yard.”

Today, John Deere announced the donation of over $400,000 of equipment and attachments that will be used to restore and maintain the turf and grounds at the National Mall.  That donation included a wide range of lawn care models, most notably the new commercial-grade Z925M Flex Fuel ZTrak™ mower, which operates on ethanol blends up to E85.

“John Deere is both honored and proud to play a role in the revitalization of this iconic landscape,” said Denver Caldwell, manager of turf marketing and marketing support for John Deere. “For more than 175 years, our company has been committed to nurturing, harvesting and beautifying the land. Today, we continue that commitment by providing the equipment to sustainably care for America’s Front Yard.”

Illinois Corn is proud too.  Proud to see a company with roots in Illinois agriculture step up in a public private partnership that will benefit us all.  And proud that Illinois corn will have a stake in keeping Washington, DC beautiful for visitors from around the country and the world.
