Our senior senator from Illinois is standing up for corn ethanol. Senator Durbin has long been a supporter of renewable fuels and in particular, the Renewable Fuel Standard. IL Corn appreciates that long standing relationship.

Following a meeting with leading biofuels coalition Fuels America, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin called on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to move expeditiously in setting production levels under the RFS for 2014, and to move ahead on these levels for 2015 and 2016.

“The Administration’s efforts last year to change the Renewable Fuel Standard missed the mark,” Durbin said. “Delaying the proposal gave the Administration the opportunity to work with agriculture and industry stakeholders to get this rule right. But further delays will only bring additional uncertainty to our national biofuels industry and the thousands of jobs it supports – including 5,400 in Illinois. I am committed to working with the Administration, Illinois stakeholders, and my Congressional colleagues on finding a better alternative, and finding it quickly.”
