Time is running out for farmers to make base acres and allocations decisions that will impact their 2014 farm program options.  The deadline is February 27.

Making no decision and going with the default option will not be the best option for most Illinois farmers.  IL Corn would encourage you to do your research and make the decision that would best protect your risk for the next several years.

There are multitudes of tools available to help you.  IL Corn’s Farm Bill resource page (www.ilcorn.org/farmbill2014) is full of links and videos that will walk you through the available options and provide resources to help you determine the best for your farm.

And the University of Illinois’s Farm Doc Farm Bill Toolbox is another excellent option.  Here, you can check out decision guides, articles written by experts in farm policy, recordings of webinars, and even a downloadable Farm Bill Calculator that will calculate your risk protection based on the information you enter about your farm.

Whatever you do, act now!  Time is running out and you will not want to leave this base acre and allocation question unanswered!
