NCGA to Congress: Put Aside Petty Politics on Trade

Today, the House of Representatives passed Trade Promotion Authority legislation, but failed to pass the Trade Adjustment Assistance package that was required for the bill to move forward to the President’s desk. National Corn Growers Association President Chip Bowling issued the following statement.

“We are disappointed by the House of Representatives’ inability to move forward with the full package of trade legislation. This is a blow to American farmers, livestock producers, businesses, and workers. We hope that both houses of Congress and the White House can quickly resolve their differences and find a path forward. This legislation would bring us one step closer to open markets and greater access to millions of consumers living beyond our borders. It’s time for Congress to put aside petty politics, and stand up for American agriculture.”

Back to NASCAR…

This weekend will be a big one for American Ethanol, with NASCAR activity taking place at Michigan International Speedway and Gateway Motorsports Park in Illinois, near St. Louis. The American Ethanol partnership with NASCAR has moved the needed with regard to NASCAR fans’ opinions of ethanol, with the majority now in favor of using ethanol in their own cars. Remember, all of NASCAR’s three national series races run on E15.

The highlight in Michigan will be Austin Dillon hitting the track in his second American Ethanol paintout of the season in his No. 3 Chevy. At Gateway American Ethanol will a sponsor the American Ethanol Presents Drivin’ for Linemen 200.

In both Michigan and St. Louis, fans will be asked to show their support for American Ethanol by sending postcards to the Environmental Protection Agency telling them to reverse their decision to cut the amount of ethanol currently in the Renewable Fuels Standard.

Gateway

Corn growers from Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky are joining forces with American Ethanol to educate consumers about the benefits of ethanol in the shadow of the Gateway Arch on Saturday, for a full day of activities in conjunction with NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series event.

American Ethanol will be high-profile throughout the race with banners and signage across the grounds and on the track, public-address announcements on the benefits of American Ethanol, a NASCAR Green video spot on the tracks big screen and in-house TV system and a large exhibit on the fan midway.

“We are excited to be a part of this event because the Gateway track is surrounded by corn and ethanol production and both are critical parts of the economy,” said Lou Lamoreux, chairman of the Illinois Corn Marketing Board and a Lanark, Ill. farmer.  “This location also gives us a chance to promote E15 and other higher blends of ethanol to drivers from urban St. Louis.”

The exhibit will feature a combine, an E85 John Deere riding mower, an E85 Cobra; and the American Ethanol boat that is competing in the Crappie Masters fishing series in 2015.

Michigan

The Michigan Corn Growers Association and the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan join forces with American Ethanol this weekend to bring the Biofuels Mobile Education Center to the Midway to interact with fans and learn how they can save money at the pump using higher ethanol blends.

American Ethanol will also host auto mechanics and car dealerships to make sure they have the most up-to-date information about ethanol and its benefits for consumers and the environment.

“This will be a great opportunity to connect consumers, car dealers and the Michigan farmers who contribute to our fuel supply for a weekend of fun and information,” said Jim Zook, executive director of the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan. “When we use more Michigan-made fuel, it translates directly into stronger rural communities, more jobs and more money that goes back into our state. Our corn growers are huge NASCAR fans, and we are proud of the work we do to supply these drivers with American Ethanol.”
