TOP MARKETS FOR U.S. CORN AND MEAT

In honor of World Trade Month, consider the following statistics about the top customers for your corn and livestock.

CORN

Mexico is the number one purchaser of U.S. corn, buying 13,321,435 metric tons of corn in 2016 and spending $2.52 billion.  Japan is your second largest customer, buying 10,391,405 metric tons of corn at a total cost of $1.83 billion.

The remaining international customers in the top five are considerably smaller.  Colombia (#3), South Korea (#4), and Peru (#5) purchased only 9,894,477 collectively.

BEEF

The top five importers of U.S. beef are very similar.  Japan is the number one customer, buying 258,653 metric tons of beef in 2016 for $1,510 million.  Mexico is the second largest customer in 2016 importing 242,373 metric tons of beef at a value of $975 million.

South Korea (#3), Canada (#4), and Hong Kong (#5) round out the top five.

PORK

Importing the most U.S. pork in 2016 is Mexico who purchased 730,316 metric tons with a total value of $1,355 million.  Hong Kong came in second with a total import of 544,943 metric tons of pork in 2016.

Japan (#3), Canada (#4), and Central/South America (#5) are your remaining top importers of U.S. pork.
