MACON COUNTY STRIP TILL FIELD DAY SET FOR THURSDAY

Jul 09, 2018  |  Today's News |  Conservation

Throughout July and September, farmers all over Illinois can understand soil health practices that benefit their family farms at Soil Health Partnership field days.

This Thursday, July 12, from 9 am to 4 pm, Macon County farmers can learn about strip-till practices and witness live demos. The Decatur event is co-sponsored by Macon County Soil & Water Conservation District, Soil Health Partnership, Piatt County SWCD, and the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

A morning session will include discussions from these strip-till experts and growers:

  • Mark Hannah, “Getting the Most From Your Strip-Till Equipment”
  • Abigail Peterson, Soil Health Partnership
  • Eric Miller, Strip-Till User

The morning session will conclude with a farmer-led panel to address questions and concerns from attendees.

Following lunch, farmers will witness first-hand demos of strip-till bars and cover crop application methods.
