ICGA Pleased with House E15 Vote and Looking to Senate

By Lindsay Croke May 13, 2026

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed year-round E15 legislation, a move championed by Illinois agriculture, U.S. corn farmers, U.S. ethanol producers, and most of the U.S. petroleum industry. Maroa farmer and IL Corn Growers Association President Mark Bunselmeyer reacted to this progress in the pursuit for additional corn demand for Illinois farmers.

“Thank you doesn’t feel like enough gratitude to offer the champions of this legislation. To Reps. Bost, Budzinski, Jackson, Kelly, LaHood, Miller, and Sorensen who have led the charge for year-round E15 on both sides of the aisle, the farm families in your districts are grateful. To the remaining members of the Illinois delegation who supported the year-round E15 initiative, thank you.

“A year-round E15 bill now needs to proceed to the Senate, where we know that Illinois farmers will find champions in Senator Duckworth and Senator Durbin. Passage in the Senate may be a long-distance race, but it’s one Illinois farmers and the ICGA have been training for.

“At the finish line lies new domestic demand for U.S. corn farmers, lower fuel prices for consumers, and cleaner air for all of us.”
