Matt Raben
Matt serves as District 13 director for the Illinois Corn Marketing Board, which serves Clay, Edwards, Jefferson, Lawrence, Marion, Richland, Wabash, Wayne, and White counties. He feels a since of responsibility to help shape the agriculture world for the next generation. In his role, Matt wants to provide the members of his district transparency and information with regard to activities and programs. He is most looking forward to the chance to meet and learn from other Illinois farmers.
Matt farms corn and soybeans with his mother and brother in White and Gallatin counties in Illinois. The family also has a farming operation in Cross County, Arkansas, which produces corn, soybeans, grain sorghum, and sweet potatoes. All farms incorporate no-till into their operation as a way to control soil erosion and promote good soil health. Matt also has some involvement in the agriculture industry of Brazil.
He earned a bachelor and master degree in Agribusiness Economics from Southern Illinois University. Before returning to the farm, Matt worked for Bunge North America & Louis Dreyfus Company for 15 years in various commercial grain management roles and advisory roles. Matt also worked abroad with Bunge South America in Brazil during that tenure.
Matt enjoys water and outdoor sports with his wife Sarah, and their three daughters, Shelbi, Olivia, and Eliana. Matt also enjoys staying active in 4-H and judging junior shows when needed.
