Farm Bill 2.0 Passed out of the Senate Ag Committee

After months of debate and a stalled first attempt, Farm Bill 2.0 is moving forward again. The Senate Agriculture Committee advanced the legislation on Wednesday afternoon, bringing Congress one step closer to a new five-year Farm Bill and giving farmers the certainty they have been waiting for.

This action after the National Corn Growers Association hosted a fly in for farmers to fill Capitol Hill this week.

"IL Corn Growers Association (ICGA) leaders joined corn farmers from all over the U.S. in DC to tell Congress that we need increased demand and lower input costs. Higher ethanol blend policy, such as the year-round E15 provision in the Senate Farm Bill, is a great place to start. Farmers also need vibrant export markets and a fix for ag input consolidation." said Mark Bunselmeyer, ICGA President and farmer from Maroa.

“While we are extremely grateful for any certainty in the marketplace Congress can provide, ICGA remains focused on delivering a bipartisan farm bill, the result of productive debate and compromise that offers results for farmers and consumers alike.”

ICGA thanks Senator Durbin for his support of E15 within the Farm Bill, despite the committee’s inability to provide a bipartisan Farm Bill that ultimately led to his vote against the bill.
