New Interactive Game Teaches Kids How Illinois Corn Travels the World

By Tara Desmond • September 10, 2026

Illinois Corn has launched "Get That Corn Moving!," an interactive online game that takes players through the real-life journey of a bushel of Illinois corn — from harvest on the farm to a customer around the world. Players choose trucks, trains and barges, help guide a barge through a river lock, and decide where their corn ultimately ends up, whether that's a nearby livestock farm, an ethanol plant, or an export customer in Mexico, Colombia or Japan. Along the way, the game teaches core lessons about how Illinois corn actually moves: the role of grain elevators, why barges are such an efficient way to haul grain, and why the age of the nation's locks and dams matters to farmers. The game closes with a personalized "Corn Transportation Champion" scorecard showing miles traveled, transportation modes used, and the player's final destination.
