The Illinois Runs on Homegrown Corn videos are a hit with our viewers on Facebook, on the Watch Us Grow website, and on YouTube. The combined viewing numbers now are over 100,000! This video series is the star component of the Illinois Runs on Homegrown Corn campaign. The goal of the campaign is to provide more information to consumers about how we grow Illinois’ number one crop. The series features Illinois corn farmer Justin Durdan, following the progress of his corn crop throughout the growing season.

To grab the interest of the viewer, the story of the corn crop is captured in new, high-tech video called 360-degree video. It allows a viewer directed experience, literally letting the consumer see what they want to see on Justin’s farm. Be sure to check it out on your phone or tablet device. Tilt and move the device around to change your perspective.

The next video in the series will feature harvest and the crop’s final destination: an ethanol plant.

This effort is one of the programs undertaken by your Illinois corn checkoff to help educate consumers on the value of corn how it impacts their lives.
